Kesher Israel Congregation, a welcoming Orthodox community, prides itself on offering a warm environment for praying, learning and socializing. As an historically established congregation, we strive to enrich and uplift the life of any Jew looking for a connection to G-d, Torah, and Israel.

is located in the beautiful state capital of Harrisburg, PA, nestled along the majestic Susquehanna River– as the center of the warm and vibrant traditional Jewish community of South Central PA. People are attracted to our community for the broadness of our Jewish life, the stable economy, affordable cost of living, the relaxed pace, and proximity to the natural resources and richness of Central PA.
We are a Diverse community
of lawyers, businessmen, physicians, academics, and employees in government and other industries. We encompass varied levels and styles of Jewish observance and knowledge. What unites us is our mutual desire to grow, pray and study together as a community. In this close-knit group, everyone matters, is valued for their individuality, and makes their unique contribution.
We pride ourselves on warm friendships with Jews of every denomination in our Jewish community
We are active in our Jewish Federation and JCC, Jewish Family Service, Jewish Group Homes, The Jewish Home, and especially in our Jewish day school, The Silver Academy. Due to our small-community feel, all Jews in Harrisburg socialize and share programming with each other, and all our organizations work together for the good of our entire community. This is Jewish unity at its best.
We are flexible and integrate the needs of all generations. There has been enormous cultural and demographic change since our founding a century ago. With Orthodox Union affiliation, we maintain our vibrancy and commitment to traditional Judaism, demonstrating its meaning and relevance to the world around us.
