KASHRUT ALERT- GIANT BAKERY -ROLLS
Please note that the rolls at Giant Bakery are no longer kosher, with a change of distributor. Bags of rolls are no longer carrying kosher labels. There are still specialty rolls, e.g, Portuguese rolls, which are still under hechsher and located in bins marked 'kosher'.
All rolls demarcated into non-kosher and kosher bins are clearly marked. You will find all of the rolls on the tiled part of the floor. Please note that onion rolls are still kosher, and have the OU certification. They are located in the same area. The onion rolls are pas yisrael.
All other products on the wooden floor are kosher. The breads are pas palter, and are 100% kosher. Pas palter refers to bread baked by non-Jew. Pas Yisrael refers to bread baked by Jews.
Cookies, cakes, donuts are all kosher dairy. Check to see that there is a kosher dairy label on the packages. Donuts from the bins on the wooden floor can be purchased.
The bagels are Pas Yisrael, as Giant no longer bakes bagels. The breads and chalaha are baked at Giant, unless indicated otherwise.
